First up was Vitra's Artek presentation on the Thursday night. Vitra put on a small display of Artek classics and had some fantastic images from the Artek archives which you can see above. Elsewhere 19 Greek St held their opening on the friday night in Soho, packed to the rafters, we'll be sharing more of the pieces later in the week but here is a little taster to tide you over. We also headed south to Deptford on Saturday night to catch the launch of the Intertidal Cinema; a screening of 'The Deep Ford' documentary about the surrounding area at Deptford Creekside when the tide is out for a few hours each night. The project is by Hannah Fasching of Cargo Collective. We also caught a look at the the Living Installation, also in Deptford and back on our home turf on Monday we popped into Darkroom to catch their beautiful Off the Grid installation, via the new London Bridge Station which is rather stunning itself.

Shoreditch has shifted the centre of LDF events somewhat, the sheer number of little events, installations and launches happening in the area this year is pretty special. We spent the day in the sun wandering from place to place and above you'll see our favourite finds.

A universal thumbs up went to -ISH by Laetitia De Allegri & Matteo Fogale, these beautiful objects are crafted from bio resin mixed with unpicked denim to create a new material with lovely depth and that classic indigo hue. Elsewhere we were charmed by Jeremy Wintrebert and his glass works, in particular his free hand blown glass 'Cloud' lamps that drifted from the ceiling in Fumi's fantastic space. 

Recent Kingston graduate Charles Parford Plant had an ingenious flatplack table that used tension from taut 'rubber bands' to create a side table with no other fixings. We also loved Minimalux's installation in Club Row, where their collection sits alongside works by e15 and Muller Van Severen amongst others and you can see their collaboration with Uniform Wares as well as their new lighting and shelving. It's a must see, and the roof terrace is a lovely spot to rest a while between events. 

We had a great meeting with the ladies from Nikari, who talked us through their stunning collection and collaboration with Klaus Haapaniemi (but more on that later....). Lastly we ended up at the Saturday Market Project, where maker workshops were in full effect and the entire team fell in love with the scissor makers from Ernst Wright & Son whose skill and attention to detail made us all want to invest in a pair immediately.

Parisien Galerie Kreo have launched a London outpost in Mayfair. For LDF works on display include the prototype for Hella Jongerius' chair designed for the United Nations, a reworked version of the Geta table by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec and 'London Calling' a set of portable steps inspired by old Routemaster buses, designed by Konstantin Grcic. In particular we liked this Aoyama light by Studio Wieki Somers, it's elegant tubular stem held in place by two tiny fishing lure weights that dangle from the centre of the shade.  

Canadian brand Bocci collaborated in dramatic fashion with Mallett Antique House this year. Combining their sculptural lighting in with lavish installations throughout Mallett's Ely House space. The blend of traditional aginst the contemporary worked brilliantly, and you could also spot nestled amongst Mallett's collection of 18th and 19th century pieces, a few contemporary works by the likes of Brodie Neill (above left), Klauser & Carpenter as well as Matali Crasset.

Hay reopened the doors to the public at Queen Anne's gate where the walls have been covered in dramatic Du Pasquier prints and new pieces for their sister brand Wrong for Hay could be also be found. The Cloche lamp by Lars Beller Fjetland comes in three beautiful finishes and gives the impression of toppling over but is held secure by it's cast iron base.

Also new is this lightweight Trestle table with linoleum top and the 'Jones Stool', both by London based designer Simon Jones. The stool is inspired by traditional milking stools and uses the relationship between wet and dry timber to hold the pieces in place rather than glue or screws.

Word spread quickly about Dan Tobin Smith's great installation near the canal in De Beauvoir. Inspired by a Philip K Dick novel 'Do Androids Dream of Sheep', Photographer Tobin Smith took the idea of 'Kipple' and turned it into one of the undoubted highlights of the festival. The colour coded installation contains hundreds of objects collected and donated, it explores ideas around waste and clutter, the psychological effects but also its relationship to perception of beauty and our attachment to objects.
