Denton Hall, Box 9 Design

Set within the 2,500-acre Denton Reserve in Ilkley, Yorkshire, Denton Hall has undergone a transformative revival led by architecture and interior design studio Box 9. Originally built by John Carr in the Palladian tradition, the stately home has been reimagined for a new generation of visitors—those seeking stillness, nature, and meaningful connection.

The project creates an immersive guest experience that honours the building’s heritage while embracing contemporary refinement. As Box 9 shares, “The palette is inspired by the local landscape—the breathtaking terrain of the Yorkshire Dales, the soil, the plants and the creatures. The interior and architectural aesthetic honours its grand history and draws its natural environment in closer to create an unconventional elegance. It is a dance of balance: a collection of curves to soften the classic detailing.”

Denton Hall represents a new chapter in luxury accommodation—one that looks both backwards and outwards, placing equal value on craft, sustainability, and the rejuvenating power of nature.
