Individually, the pendants possess a visual subtlety, but gain tremendous strength when multiplied and clustered. Light interacts with the bubbles and imperfections of the glass to produce a glow reminiscent of small candles floating within spheres of water. Cast glass is an organic process, imperfect by nature, and each 14 is handmade, making every piece unique.
Available online as a three pendant (round canopy), fourteen and twenty six pendant chandelier (both rectangular canopy). See downloadable tech sheets for full details of each version.
The 14 series is flexible, starting from a single pendant and through to 36 pendant chandeliers in a range of canopy shapes and sizes. For further information, please email email@example.com or call our showroom on 020 7278 8456.
Founded by Omer Arbel in a red barn surrounded by hay on the periphery of Vancouver. The co-operative company launched with just the 14 series. Since then it has gone from strength to strength, expanding and diversifying the collection, in addition to creating a European base in Berlin.
Each series in the collection explores the intrinsic mechanical, physical and chemical qualities of its materials as a fundamental departure point. For instance, the chandeliers in the 28 series comprise of spheres, made using a blown glass fabrication process which alternates both the temperature (selectively hot and cold) and the direction of air flow (intermittently in and out). The technique yields a slightly distorted sphere with an interior landscape of satellite shapes resulting from a series of controlled implosions. Their recent 84 series explores the interaction of copper and glass via an intriguing process of gently pushing white glass through the mesh of the copper to create delicate pillowed forms. ..
