Introducing Treku: Craft, heritage & contemporary design

Founded in 1947 in the Basque coastal town of Zarautz, Treku emerges from a rich 500-year tradition of woodworking and boat-construction. What began as a local carpentry workshop by founder Jesús Aldabaldetreku has grown into an international design house, without ever losing its artisanal roots.

Manufacture takes place in the Olaa region of Zarautz, where Treku still combines state-of-the-art production with time-honoured hand-skills. As they themselves put it: “Modern machinery might take up most of the factory’s surface, but fingers and eyes are still at the heart of the production process.”

From selecting veneers by hand to ensuring the nuances of grain, knots, and colour are honoured — each piece is a testament to precision.
