In an evolution of the traditional Windsor chair, it features the archetype's characteristic spindled back, while a single piece of ash has been steam bent to produce its refined oval shape. The Windsor Quaker Chair's high sculpted back offers a supportive seat with an aesthetic elegance, a signifying feature of the iconic Ercol brand.
It is constructed using traditional wedge joints which not only reference its rich design heritage but also provide a strong and stable structure, bolstered by an additional H-underframe. It is entirely of solid ash wood and is available in a range of finishes.
Founded in 1920 by a young Italian immigrant, Lucian Ercolani, the goal was to make furniture that was well designed and made with pride by craftsmen in a good working environment.
Their Ercol Originals collection contains many of the chairs, tables and sideboards created by Ercolini in the 1950's and 60's. These pieces, such as their distinctive Quaker Chair and Loveseat continue to find a place in contemporary interiors everywhere. ..
