Kudos, Shed

Situated near Exmouth Market, British film and TV production company Kudos wanted a complete refurnishment of their existing offices. They turned to interior design and architecture specialists Shed to create them a 'home from home' for their team.

Taking inspiration from the existing structure, Shed accentuated the elements of the former Victorian warehouse such as the exposed brickwork and fireplaces. They chose rich upholstery materials such as brown leather and green velvet on classic armchairs and sofa styles.

These classic pieces were blended with contemporary and mid-century elements such as the CH25 chair by Hans Wegner for Carl Hansen and Another Country's Sofa One. The result gives depth and texture to the communal meeting and lounge areas of the workspace giving the writers a tranquil, welcoming space when needed.

To keep the space naturally light and open, private spaces are divided with windows rather than walls. The parquet flooring is softened with the use of rugs and kilims.

Shed are a London based interior design and architecture practice established in 2000 specialising in retail, leisure, workplace and exhibition markets. They are known for their work with Meat Liquor, Coca Cola, Barbour and Harrod's amongst others.

The building is a converted Victorian factory situated in Clerkenwell.

Private areas retain a connection with the communal and make the most of available light by using windows rather than walls.

The space blends contemporary workspace with communal areas softened through use of soft furnishings and warm woods.

Rich materials such as green velvet and marble sit against red kilim style rugs providing texture and depth.

Shed's design blends styles, mixing classic and mid century furniture, vintage and new, to create the 'home from home' feel Kudos wanted.

Original elements of the building were retained and accentuated such as the steel girders and exposed brick work.
