Gerrit T. Rietveld’s Utrecht Armchair, produced by Cassina, is a timeless icon of the Neoplastic movement.
First designed in 1935 for the Metz & Co. department store in Amsterdam, the Utrecht Armchair was created to meet the demands of serial production while maintaining comfort and relaxation. Rietveld’s approach, treating the elements of the chair as distinct units, resulted in a bold, architectural form that remains one of his most celebrated works.
Since 1988, Cassina has faithfully reissued the Utrecht Armchair, preserving Rietveld’s experimental vision while applying the brand’s renowned craftsmanship and quality standards.
