The Santa & Cole Maija Floor Lamp is an impressive, luminous object. Part of their Design Classics collection, a series of objects created throughout during the Modernist era.
Designed by the celebrated Ilmari Tapiovaara, the Maija Floor is crafted to convey the feeling of light in Baltic cities, where the streets are barely illuminated. Its honeycomb structure echoes the sense of light beaming through the windows of homes and shops: from the inside, outwards. The form comprises a series of stacked metal discs that filter out the inner light.
