Inspired by the success of his acclaimed Womb Chair, Eero Saarinen spent the latter end of the 1940s developing the concept of seating that achieved optimum comfort not purely through cushioning, but from the shape of the chair itself.

Scaling down the dimensions of the Womb Chair, he arrived at the initial design for the Saarinen Conference Chair, defined by its fluid lines and distinctly sculptural appeal. The chair has been a staple of the Knoll portfolio for over 60 years, and is available in a range of options to suit almost any taste. Wooden legs exude a sense of warmth, while a chrome alternative boasts a more corporate appeal.
