Designed in 1961 by Danish architect and designer Bodil Kjær, the Principal Chair by Karakter is a mid-century Scandinavian design that brings together architectural clarity and comfort.
Originally conceived as part of Kjær’s Elements of Architecture series, the Principal collection explores interior solutions for modern living. The dining chair reflects her forward-thinking, modernist approach, with clean geometry softened by a circular seat and gently rounded backrest. The upholstered form adds warmth and comfort, creating an inviting contrast to the design’s precise lines.
The Principal Chair sits naturally within both contemporary and classic interiors. Its considered proportions and timeless silhouette make it a versatile choice for residential dining spaces and design-led hospitality settings.
Available in Natural, Moka Stained Ashwood and Walnut.
