Designed by London studio Doshi Levien for Hay, Uchiwa is a sculptural and generous armchair inspired by the shape of traditional Japanese paper fans.

Making reference to the round, structured form of these paper fans, the contemporary quilted lounge chair features an expansive upholstered seat contrasted against a compact wood base. With a generous seat and high back that embraces the sitter, the result is an expressive and inviting design. The quilted model is especially suited to residential environments.

Made of polypropylene with moulded polyurethane form, the Uchiwa Quilt Lounge Chair can be upholstered in different fabrics for the interior and exterior. The base is comprised of four cylindrical legs and comes in Natural or Black Stained Oak.
