A true functionalist, Mogensen believed that furniture should encourage freedom of personality.
With its discrete design, sturdy construction and generous width, the Søborg Chair is the perfect embodiment of his philosophy. First designed in 1950, Mogensen aimed to make a shell chair that could be produced with new technology of the time.
The curved seat and back in moulded plywood combined with a solid oak frame reflected how Mogensen fused the techniques of traditional cabinet-makers and his own functionalist ideals.
It is available in a range of wood finishes from white oil to black lacquer, each lending the chair its own distinctive feel.
