Italian designer Mario Ferrarini is from Como in Northern Italy, a region famed for its design heritage. He attended the Politecnico of Milan where he studied industrial design. Upon graduation, he worked as a consultant for several brands before finally establishing his own studio in 2007.
Now based in Lugano Switzerland, Ferrarini creates furniture and lighting that is concerned with notions of timelessness. His products do not conform to passing trends and are designed with longevity in mind.
Ferrarini is best known in the UK for his collaboration with Spanish furniture brand Viccarbe on the Quadra Chair, a unique design characterised by its functional yet refined aesthetic.
An exercise in precision, the Quadra chair from Viccarbe originated as a tribute to the delicate details, lines, and tools of architectural drawing.
